West Virginia Surface Owners Organization

All the movement in the Marcellus Shale gas and oil drilling has caused a great stir amongst local residents of West Virginia. Property mineral rights, which for decades had been forgotten about and put aside, have suddenly become the most valuable possessions for the people of the state. However, along with the gains of the mineral owners, come terrible nightmares for the surface owners, who feel violated and abused by the overnight developments in their backyards, wherein they have absolutely no control. However, interestingly enough, the surface rights owners do actually have some say, however limited it may be. Some interesting information about this is available from the West Virginia’s Surface Rights owners organization. More information about this can be obtained from the link below:

Co-Relation between fracking and earthquakes?

Interesting article on the National Geographic energy blog about the possible co-relation between fracking and earthquakes. This is more intriguing now, especially after the rumble that we experienced a few months ago that shook the region from Virginia beach, all they way to Canada on the East coast of the US, typically where the Fracking for natural gas has been most active in the past few years.
